Lahey Hospital & Medical Center holds a Comprehensive Stroke Center designation and is proudly growing Neurosciences Critical Care within the organization. The NCCU is an acute intensive care unit specializing in the care of acutely ill patients with life-threatening neurologic disease or life-threatening neurological manifestations of systemic disease. Using the latest technologies, nursing staff deliver care to patients requiring ventilatory support, hemodynamic monitoring, ICP monitoring, targeted temperature management, osmotic therapy, continuous renal replacement therapy, in addition to providing support and comfort to the families of these patients. With 6 ICU beds, our nurse to patient ratio is 1:1 or 1:2.

With 12 PCU beds, our nurse to patient ratio is 1:2 or 1:3.
We require:
Coronary Care Unit (CCU)/Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The CCU/ICU is an acute critical care area that focuses on the care of patients with cardiac disorders, hemodynamic challenges, cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, and hepato-renal failure. The CCU/ICU nurses are a highly trained team that specializes in cardiac devices, ventilator support and life-saving measures. Additionally, patients may require therapeutic hypothermia, intracranial pressure monitoring, CVVH, Intra-aortic Balloon Pump, and ventricular assistance. The CCU/ICU nurses are adept at titrating multiple drips and are keen observers of minute changes in their patients’ status. The nursing team works collaboratively with the Pulmonary Critical Care and Cardiology teaching services, to provide cutting edge treatments and high-quality patient care. With 16 beds, our nurse to patient ratio is 1:1 or 1:2.
We require:
The Critical Care Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is an acute care area. Highly trained nurses care primarily for medical patients requiring ventilatory support and ECG monitoring. Additionally, patients may require hemodynamic monitoring, intracranial pressure monitoring, and/or CVVH. The MICU patient population also includes patients receiving TPA for stroke and patients with hepatic-renal failure. Working together with the pulmonary team, nurses maintain extensive critical care skills and provide a supportive atmosphere for each other, the patients, and the patients' families. The patient population ranges from young adult to geriatric. Services required may include but are not limited to: pulmonary/critical care, cardiac, neurology, infectious disease, GI/liver transplant, nephrology, and hematology. The number of patient beds in this area is 12. The Nurse/patient ratio is 1:2 or 1:1 depending on the acuity of the patient population.

As a Registered Nurse in Critical Care, you will work in the different critical care units such as the neurosciences ICU and PCU, SICU, MICU, and the ICU/CCU unit as well as PCU when needed.
This is an excellent opportunity to take advantage of our exceptional preceptors and clinical critical care training programs. After you attend our exceptional Critical care training program we will provide additional training tailored to your interests and educational needs.
You would be assigned to the day, evening or night shift. Every other weekend and rotating holidays. 12-hour shifts (day 7 AM - 7:30 PM/nights 7 PM - 7:30 AM).
