Care of the Postpartum Mother with Substance Abuse Disorders - Trauma - Informed Care

Understand the incidence of substance use in pregnancy and risk factors for developing substance use disorders (SUD) with a focus on trauma as a factor. Define trauma, identify the risk factors and incidence, appreciate the lasting neurological effects, and hear the words of mothers who have experienced trauma. Using a trauma-informed approach, reframe care providers attitudes and feelings, and alleviate barriers to providing care.
